Volunteer

Volunteering with United Way of Brandon & District is a great way to learn about your community while gaining valuable volunteer experience. Depending on your schedule and interests, we may have a volunteering opportunity that fits you. Click on the opportunities to the below for more information.

Dedicated and committed volunteers are the backbone of United Way Brandon & District, and are valuable team members in our goal to empower people and build a better community for everyone. Many positions in our daily operations, events and campaigns, planning and execution are specifically reserved for volunteers because we are committed to creating opportunities for people to be engaged in our community, and to keeping our administrative costs to a minimum. Whether it’s sorting coats for Coats for Kids, delivering Holiday trees, or serving on our Board of Directors – volunteers make a large contribution to our community through the donation of their time and talents.

Our organization and the board of Directors have adopted the Volunteer Canada’s Code of Conduct for our volunteer programs.

Day of Caring

DOC is a great way to help increase workplace morale and promote giving back to your community. Volunteers learn about their community through a hands-on experience while meaningful projects are completed for our Partner Agencies.

  • Day of Caring is a one day city-wide event in which members of the community volunteer to help many non-profits organizations, parks, and community programs with projects that they do not have the time, resources or perhaps, staff to accomplish alone. These activities may be anything from cleaning up a neighborhood or park, repainting a community centre, or helping with a community program. Volunteers from businesses and individuals from the community who sign up to be volunteers are partnered with community programs, centres and parks who apply with a project to be done. United Way will match volunteers with project requirements and do our best to fill as many project requests as we have volunteers for.

Day of Caring is an incredible opportunity for the residents of Brandon to give back to the community that does so much for us. A community that provides parks for our children to play in, community centers for events and social activities, businesses that bring in events and activities that all people, in all walks of life are able to enjoy and attend. On Day of Caring we want to give back! On Day of Caring we want to show our community that we appreciate what they do! On Day of Caring we want Brandon to know that we care!
