We are very excited to grow our organizational capacity to include the Portage la Prairie region. United Way Brandon & District currently serves rural communities surrounding Brandon and throughout Westman, and the one absolute constant is our commitment to putting donor dollars right back into the community for which they are intended.

Our United Way, like most, run an annual campaign and distribute those funds back into community agencies who support some of the most vulnerable among us. We also facilitate youth programming such as Tools for School, Coats for Kids, Summer of Service and Financially Empowering Young Adults (FEYA).

We are also in the process of piloting a program to provide support to social service workers in our community, to help alleviate and prevent burn out and compassion fatigue, and hang on to these critical individuals going forward. We are looking forward to introducing some of these programs here over the next year. Our intention is to strengthen the United Way presence here in Portage la Prairie, and to impact and support more people in this region than ever before.

We are looking to recruit six individuals locally to sit on a volunteer advisory committee. This committee will assist us with events and fundraising, but their most important task will be to assist us in making decisions regarding the investment of donor dollars here in Central Plains. If you are interested, please reach out and let us know.

About Us

For more than 50 years, United Way has worked to make a difference in our communities all across our catchment area. Guided by volunteers, we strive to invest in nonprofit organizations that improve our communities and their way of life.

We provide sustainable funding for local nonprofit organizations that provide essentials services and programming throughout all of the communities within our catchment area.

100% of your donation stays right here in the Portage la Prairie region.

Thanks to an annual grant from the province of Manitoba, none of your donation supports administration costs.
